Children's Advanced Speech Therapy was founded on a simple belief: every child deserves care that truly sees them. As a pediatric Speech-Language Pathologist, I provide highly individualized, evidence-based therapy designed around each child's unique strengths, challenges, and family.

I specialize in Feeding Therapy, Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), and Childhood Apraxia of Speech, with advanced training in the S.O.S. Approach to Feeding and Dynamic Temporal and Tactile Cueing (DTTC) for Childhood Apraxia of Speech. Since entering the field in 2017, I have worked alongside families across early intervention, schools, and specialized programs — supporting children with diagnoses including Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, Fragile X Syndrome, and Autism Spectrum Disorder.

I am a pediatric Speech-Language Pathologist and the founder of Children's Advanced Speech Therapy. I provide highly individualized, evidence-based care tailored to each child's unique development. Since entering the field in 2017, I have been committed to delivering therapy that is clinically effective and deeply compassionate.

I specialize in Feeding Therapy, Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), and Childhood Apraxia of Speech. I am trained in the Sequential Oral Sensory (S.O.S.) Approach to Feeding, and hold advanced training in Dynamic Temporal and Tactile Cueing (DTTC) — an evidence-based treatment approach specifically designed for children with Childhood Apraxia of Speech. I partner closely with families and caregivers every step of the way to create therapy experiences that lead to real, lasting progress.

Setting your family
up for success

The following policies help ensure your child receives the most consistent, effective care possible. Please review them carefully — and don't hesitate to reach out with any questions.

Why Attendance Matters

Regular attendance is essential for meaningful progress in speech and language therapy. Missed sessions can interrupt your child's momentum and limit their overall progress. Appointments are scheduled in advance and are reserved specifically for your child — we strive to maintain consistent weekly times whenever possible.

Cancellation Policy

Please provide at least 24-hour notice if you need to cancel or reschedule a session. This includes notifying the therapist of any school or daycare closures that will impact a scheduled session. You may call, email, or text to cancel.

Exception

Illness-related cancellations are exempt from the 24-hour notice requirement. Documentation from a physician may be requested for frequent illness-related cancellations.

Late Cancellations & No-Shows

Private pay clients may be charged a $50 fee for late cancellations (less than 24-hour notice) or no-shows. This fee is not billable to insurance. Exceptions may be made for illness or emergencies at the therapist's discretion.

Frequent Cancellation Policy

Three (3) no-shows or cancellations within a 30-day period may result in your child being removed from the schedule or placed on the waitlist. The therapist will provide a final notice before this occurs. Consistent attendance is required to maintain your reserved appointment slot.

Late Arrivals
If you arrive late, the session will still end at the scheduled time.
If you arrive more than 15 minutes late, the session may be considered a no-show.

Illness Policy

Please cancel your child's session as soon as possible if they are experiencing any of the following:

Fever — child must be fever-free without medication for 48 hours before returning
Vomiting or diarrhea within the last 48 hours
Contagious illness — flu, COVID, strep throat, etc.
Severe cough or respiratory symptoms

If your child is taking medication for a cold or illness, please inform the therapist to help prevent the spread of illness across the caseload.

Please note, the therapist may also need to cancel sessions due to illness or illness within their family. In such cases, every effort will be made to offer a make-up session as scheduling allows. The therapist reserves the right to cancel or end a session early if your child is showing signs of illness.

Professionalism & Respect

All clients and family members are expected to treat our therapist with courtesy, respect, and professionalism at all times — whether in person, over the phone, or through written communication. Disrespectful, aggressive, or inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated. If such behavior occurs, we reserve the right to discontinue services without warning.

Reach Out

Complete Your Intake Forms

After receiving your referral and intake forms via email, complete them and return everything back to Corisa via email. This helps her prepare to support your child from day one.

Get a Physician Script (if using insurance)

Schedule an appointment with your child's doctor and ask for a script for evaluation and treatment of speech therapy. Once you have it, email or fax it to Corisa.

Schedule the Evaluation

Once your script has been received, Corisa will reach out to schedule your child's evaluation. This is where we begin building a full picture of your child's strengths and needs!

After the Evaluation
Review Results & Begin Services

Corisa will call you to review the evaluation results together. If your child qualifies, you'll confirm the day, time, and location for ongoing therapy sessions.

You'll then receive an email with documents requiring your signature and return before services begin.

Getting Started

It's simple! Start by emailing Corisa at Corisa@caspeechtherapy.com or reaching out via Instagram at @childrensadvanced_speechtx to request a referral form and intake packet. From there, Corisa will walk you through every step. You can also join the waitlist directly on this website!

If you are using insurance, yes — a script from your child's physician for evaluation and treatment of speech therapy (and/or feeding, depending on your child's needs) is required before services can begin. You can email or fax the script to Corisa once you have it.

If you are private pay or using BabyNet, requirements may differ. Reach out and Corisa will let you know exactly what's needed for your situation.

Wait times vary depending on availability and how quickly intake paperwork and physician scripts are received. Joining the waitlist and submitting your forms promptly is the best way to secure your spot as soon as possible. Corisa will always keep you informed about timing and next steps.

If your child is under 3 years old, we recommend exploring BabyNet — South Carolina's early intervention program for infants and toddlers with developmental delays or disabilities. BabyNet services may be available at no cost to your family. CAST is an authorized BabyNet provider!

You can also talk to your child's pediatrician about your concerns, who can refer you for an evaluation. It's never too early to reach out.

Services

CAST primarily serves pediatric clients — from infants and toddlers through school-age children. If you're unsure whether your child falls within the age range served, reach out and Corisa will be happy to discuss your child's specific needs.

All services are provided in natural environments — meaning your child's home or daycare. Research shows that children make faster, more meaningful progress when therapy happens in the real-life settings where they spend their time. It also makes it easier for families to learn strategies they can use every day!

CAST currently serves families in North Myrtle Beach, Little River, and Longs, up to 62nd Avenue in Myrtle Beach.

At this time, CAST does not offer teletherapy services. All sessions are conducted in person in your home or daycare setting. This allows Corisa to provide the most hands-on, naturalistic therapy experience possible for your child.

A standard speech therapy session is 60 minutes. Sessions involving additional services such as AAC or Feeding Therapy may extend to up to 90 minutes, depending on the child's needs and goals.

Session frequency is determined based on your child's evaluation results, goals, and individual needs. Corisa will discuss a recommended plan of care with you after the evaluation. Most children are seen weekly, though some may benefit from more or less frequent sessions depending on their goals.

The Sequential Oral Sensory (S.O.S.) Approach to Feeding is an evidence-based, transdisciplinary program for assessing and treating children with feeding difficulties. It addresses the whole child — looking at medical, sensory, motor, behavioral, and nutritional factors that can contribute to picky eating, food refusal, or unsafe swallowing. Corisa is trained in this approach and uses it to help children build safe, positive, and enjoyable mealtime experiences.

Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) refers to any method that supports or replaces spoken language — including high-tech devices, picture-based communication boards, and sign language. AAC is not a last resort; it can actually support the development of spoken language while giving your child a way to communicate right now.

If you're wondering whether AAC might be right for your child, an evaluation is the best first step. Corisa also offers AAC evaluations and can help navigate funding support for devices.

Insurance & Payment

For BlueCross BlueShield and UnitedHealthcare, your out-of-pocket cost per session depends on your individual plan and what your insurance company authorizes to reimburse. The copay amount varies by plan. Corisa is happy to help you understand your benefits before getting started — just reach out!

If your insurance plan isn't listed, private pay options are available. Reach out to Corisa and she'll help you figure out the best path forward for your family.

In many cases, yes — AAC devices can be covered by Medicaid and some private insurance plans with the proper documentation and prior authorization. CAST offers AAC evaluations and funding support to help families navigate this process. It can take time, but Corisa will guide you through it every step of the way.

What to Expect

During an evaluation, Corisa will observe and interact with your child to assess their communication, language, speech, and/or feeding skills depending on your areas of concern. She may use standardized assessments, informal observations, and parent interview to build a full picture of your child's strengths and needs. After the evaluation, Corisa will call you to review the results and discuss recommended next steps.

Yes! Parent and caregiver involvement is a core part of how CAST works. Being present allows you to learn strategies, ask questions, and carry over skills into your daily routines between sessions. Your involvement is one of the biggest factors in your child's progress.

Every child is different, and progress depends on many factors — including the nature of your child's needs, how frequently they attend sessions, and how consistently strategies are practiced at home. Some families notice changes within a few weeks; for others it may take longer. Corisa will set clear, measurable goals and keep you updated on your child's progress throughout.

Practicing strategies at home between sessions makes a huge difference! Corisa will provide you with specific, easy-to-use home strategies tailored to your child's goals. The more you can weave these into your everyday routines — mealtimes, bath time, car rides — the faster your child will progress.
